This week I have managed to spend some time in the studio, although mainly taking product shots for customers I did manage to get some time to take photos of a few old Camera’s, I love the old Kodak cameras, the build quality is fantastic and unfortunately not replicated in modern cameras.

The photo below shows just how important light is, I took a shot of this tree and was about to walk away, as I did the sun came through the clouds and hit the tree, I managed to get this shot, within a few seconds the light was gone.  Photography really is about chasing light!

Facebook Photos has undoubtedly changed the way we think about photography. More than just a way to display our images to the world, it has essentially pioneered and perpetuated the idea of social photography.

I have been trying to get more exercise since Christmas to burn off some of the excess and also the weather has changed, it has stopped raining, we are yet to see the sun but one step at a time!  It has turned colder and we had a very misty morning on Sunday and I managed to get some nice shots while out on a walk.  The first one was taken on the grounds of Goddington Manor, I wanted to try and get the trees receding into the mist.

This shot is a HDR image, I took this as HDR to make sure I kept the detail in the shadows and in the middle distance down the track.

The final image is one of my favourite subjects, Singleton Lake, it was very quiet and peaceful on Sunday morning, if very cold!

I am looking forward to spring and getting some nice nature shots when we will hopefully see some sun!

Happy New Year everyone!

This Christmas was quiet for me and gave me pleny of opportunity to come up with some new ideas for 2013.  I have decided to add a downloads section to my website, I am going to add links to software that I have tested and feel will be useful to photographers of all levels.  Currently I have a couple of links on their and will be adding more soon.

I have also setup a store to sell Framed Prints, Canvases and Greetings Cards.  I currently have a small section of prints and canvases and I am currently working on Valentines Day cards which I plan to have available in the next week or so.  You can view my shop here DHP STORE.

I have also started writing tutorials that will be available to download for free on my website, I currectly have the first one available under the new tutorials section.

I hope you find the new sections on my website useful, I would love to here what you think of my tutorials and any ideas you may have for new ones and new content on my website.
